ARTICHOKE Mazzaferrata: Typical central Italian variety known by different synonyms. Large compact spheroidal artichokes, purple spineless. Late coming: harvest begins in March.

Evergreen plant has an erect stem with autumn-spring vegetation. In summer, the plant is inactive and the upper part lying above the ground is removed. The new vegetation makes a terminal artichoke which is followed by the production of numerous small lateral artichokes.
